Games with explicit rules....

Hi tamariki! The Connect 4 game was in full swing this morning... with lots of players sorting counters for colour and taking turns to insert them into the slots in the top.  It takes a bit of thinking to get 4 in a row we noticed ... but it's a lot of fun to fill up the board with all the counters you have!

 What a great way to exercise your thinking brains!

A group of quiet and determined children made Raylene a cake to mark the occasion.... it looked fabulous! Happy 21st Raylene! :)

How to travel to another planet?

Apparently the current working theory is if you can build a robot rocket big enough... you can go clear across space to lots of interesting planets.  Here we have some friends experimenting with this idea over the course of one morning. I liked the problem solving here.. and the wealth of ideas being aired, listened to, acted upon and questioned.  What a great way to learn to be part of a collaborative project of shared objective!

Getting Creative at Kindergarten!

I think we all know how it is when you have a 'song in your head' - here's Max working alongside a Kaiako exploring the notion of a runaway meatball. Open ended materials such as playdough  often  suggest cooking play and suggests that we draw upon what we know about food technology and family life.  Great thinking Max! ka pai tō mahi!
